I am a strong believer that fashion is a expression of creativity, imagination and individuality. It mirrors and emphasizes a persons personality, ambition and often view on life.
OLD TO NEW
Fashion in the ages inspires me, its diverse nature and frequent change makes it so unique from any other art. In modern day society people are obsessed with the 'brand new.' New outfit for each occasion forgetting to remember fashion works in cycles, constantly reoccurring in later years.
I am constantly looking in charity shops or old clothes from my grandmothers wardrobe reinventing them with my own taste bringing them straight up to date.
Some examples bellow:
I wore for prom a vintage dress from my step mothers wardrobe because it was a beautiful vibrant piece which was nicer than any new item in the shops at that present time... why spend when you have the golden pieces hidden away?
Again this dress I am wearing is a old silk handkerchief dress which I brought up to date with a thin belt tucking it in at the waist.

Photography
Photography enables me to be creative expressing my creativity my favorite type is fashion photography some examples of my work are displayed below:
For the last two
years I have regularly assisted a local photographer who specialises in fashion
Photography. I have assisted her on shoots
both within her studio at Streford and out on location
also assisting her while she works at
weddings and formal occasions.
During this time I have experienced working
with the camera and other equipment including
lighting and other props within the studio.
I have also experienced using software in preparation
for example photoshop and camera settings to
alter in order to achieve my desired photo outcome. I
was afforded the opportunity to take over
part of a fashion shoot earlier last year as part of my A
level
media course work submission which was to prepare a front page layout for a
music
magazine
and a centre page which you can view below
Charlotte Gibson: make up artist- http://www.charliegibson.co.uk/
For many years on occasions I have assisted Charlotte on many productions including: fashion shoots, promotional shoots, video advertisements...
This is the most recent shoot I worked on with her:
White noise media productions: http://www.whitenoise.tv/
More recently, I
worked with white noise on an advertising shoot for Lancashire life magazine
using blue screen and working as a runner. I learnt a lot being able to work in close proximity to the producer and directors of the shoot.
Here is the finished result below:
3 Degrees West- media production company
In March 2012 I was
afforded the opportunity to work with Andy Silcock from 3degreeswest at the
Gmex in Manchester to film a promotional
video from structure and jocio hair products, which
involved me filming and assisting
as a runner with the company. I also was able to view the styling and the make
up and hair on the modals.
The finished video is bellow:
Sculpture4kids National schools competition 2007 11 to 13
age category – First Prize
I have always been interested in art, I submitted a piece
entitled “Polluted Waters” in response to the brief requiring the artist to
create sculpture using pasta and recycled materials to represent the dangers to
the environment due to global warming. I was one of three initially selected
within Kings School that went forward into the National competition, displayed
and judged at the Royal Society for British Sculpture’s Kensington Studios and
later shown at the Satcchi Contemporary Art Gallery, London.
